Cyprus is devastated by the cold blood assassination in cold blood, of Andy Hatzikostis, a low profile man. Manager and CEO of Dias Media Group, Mr. Hatzikostis was murdered last night, at 21.00, outside his home. The culprits lied in ambush for the Cyprian businessman and literally executed him with 2 bullets, which indicates a death contract.

Andy Hatzikostis was 43 years old and left behind a wife and two children. At the time he was returning home, with no security, along with his new wife and her children from a previous marriage. Andy Hatzikostis, fell behind in order to lock his car, when the two men approached him. One of them shot him twice on the chest which led to his instant death. This indicates that the culprits were professional assassins.

Chrisanthos Tsouroulis, a journalist and close friend of the deceased, has spoken to Newsit of a gangster-like execution and stated that it was the housekeeper who heard the gunshots and informed the publisher’ s wife.

The execution took place outside the businessman’s house which is located minutes away from the American embassy and the whole area has been secluded by strong police forces. Many Ministers of the Cyprian government along with the chairman of the parliament arrived on the spot.

Police press officer M.Katsounotos, while talking to the Cyprian News Agency, mentioned that he was shot from a close distance, with a rifle, since no shells were found on the scene.

One of the culprits was allegedly waiting for the publisher outside his home, close to the American Embassy of Nicosia, while the other one waited on a large capacity bike nearby. Two gunshots were heard while Mr. Hatzikostis was exiting his car in order to enter his home. The culprits escaped by bike through a dirt road in the area. “Currently all indications show that the culprits were two”, Mr.Katsounotos stated.

The assassination news has overwhelmed Cyprus, since Hatzikostis was a low- profile, simple person with no apparent enemies or antagonism. He was considered to be one of the most active and successful young businessmen in Cyprus.

Andy Hatzikostis was the owner of TV channel Sigma and radio station “Radio Proto” among others and publisher of “Simerini” newspaper and other publications. He was also the managing director of Dias Media Group, one of the biggest publishing houses of Cyprus.
